What is CBT?
CBT is a talking therapy with a strong evidence base for people experiencing common mental health conditions. CBT focusses on the problems someone may be experiencing whilst emphasising the relationship between life events, thoughts, feelings, body symptoms and behaviours.
What does CBT involve?
CBT is a short term therapeutic approach. The first few sessions are spent with your therapists to form a clear understating of your condition and set goals for therapy. A plan will be developed that will enable the cycles that are maintaining the problem to be broken.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. The National institute for Health and Care Excellence recommend EMDR for the treatment of Post traumatic stress disorder. EMDR processes traumatic memories that impacting on peoples lives in the present.
